Mikrolimano gunman detained after stating his plea

Arber Bako, the 31 year-old Albanian national who is accused of shooting up a nightclub in Piraeus last weekend is now detained until his trial, after appearing before the Greek justice system to state his plea. The ruthless gunman, who was arrested earlier this week, faces serious charges of attempted serial homicide with intent and various other weapons charges.

Late on Thursday night, Greek authorities also arrested a 30-year old Albanian national in the area of Sepolia (Athens suburb), who apparently is also suspected of being involved with Bako. The 30-year-old had is a suspect in the murder of a man in Korydallos a few months ago, whom the Police suspected may have been involved in the execution-style murder of two Golden Dawn members in Neo Iraklio.

A report in to Vima on Friday morning claims that the man arrested by Greek officials in Sepolia is “one of the more prolific executioners to have acted in Athens”.

The same report states that Bako’s gang is believed to have participated in several armed assaults in various nightclubs and shops in the areas across Athens including Agios Panteleimonas, Metaxourgio and even on Michalakopoulou Street.

Also, it is suspected that his gang is connected to another criminal gang that operated between 2007 and 2008 in Greece, and which is said to have executed 11 people and injured dozens.
